SUICIDE: AN ETHICAL CRIME
1. Who, why, when & where committed suicide first, that history is not known to me. Why a man allows a long lasting anguish to get relief from a pang a short period? Is it for ignorance of consequence impatience, excite-ness & mental bewilderment? Sulk or is it familial, social turbulence? Either of the reasons, it is unreasonable to commit suicide without searching of solution.
2. With an intention of nominating as a great responsible envoy of Lord, almighty Allah expressed his desire of human creation to utmost loyal angels. That day, they (the angels) opined the alarm of human created disorder in the earth. Allah determined and revealed the wrong concept of the Angels. Finally, Allah has created human being and allowed the advent of men to the universe.
3. Man is the great creation of Allah. Men were empowered with wisdom to differ wrong & right. More so, we have Precious Ocean of knowledge like the Quran and Hadith. But on the way to our life, due to the devil’s instigation and lack of our moral (E’man) strength we often get ourselves involve in many a major & minor sins. Allah says’ “If you (but) eschew the most heinous of the things which you are forbidden to do, we shall remit your evil deeds and admit you to a gate of great honor (An-Nissa-31). In another place it was told that “Those who avoid great sins and indecent deeds, save lesser offences verily your lord is ample in forgiveness” (An- Najam-32)
4. In Hadith, it is stated that five times prayer, Jumma prayer to next Jumma, Ramadan fasting till nest Ramadan confirm the forgiveness or in between sins, if one’s stay beyond major (Kabira Gonah) sins. Imam Azzahabi (Rh) identified a total of 70 sins as great sins as needs ‘Tawba’ to get forgive of Allah. In his ‘Kabira Gonah’ book he enlisted suicide as 8th in order. Suicide is one of the great religious & ethical crimes. It is mandatory to seek forgive by ‘Tawba’ after committing ‘Kabira Gonah’. On the other hand, suicide is such a deed afterward individual does not have the opportunity of seeking Allah’s forgive.
5. Allah gives life & death. But the self-murderer makes him ready for death. Allah says, ‘do not kill yourself’. Suicide admits oneself to an endless life of boundless sufferings. “ gwi‡Z Pvwnbv Avwg my›`i f~e‡b, gvb‡ei gv‡S Avwg evwPevi PvB|Ó In this verses of the poem of Golam Mostafa, a great desire of men long live unveiled herewith. Another quote of the holy Quran is, ‘You don’t expect death’. In accordance with Quran & Hadith it is definitely proved that suicide is hatred, reproached & non-excusable offence.
6. Bangladesh penal court law included the attempts of committing suicide as a punishable offence. It is only applicable to those got escape from death after trial. When a man aims walking round the earthly belongings, he forgets the heavenly life. As a result, the earthly success & failure becomes vulnerable to one’s life. Failure shacks him/her severely and life becomes worthless to the individuals. At the stage of rigorous mental torment, disappointed intends to breath last by choosing such a contemptible way like, suicide.
7. Irrespective of time, place & person means of suicide also differ. So-called slayer of mankind Hitler along with his wife committed suicide by taking poison, nymph lady Kliopetro killed her exquisitely beautiful body by taking a pounce of poisonous snack on her chest, artist Vengogue terminated his life leaping on to the river after 4th failure in love, poet Jibanananda Das laid his life under a tram. Like on, some one by hanging, some by jumping from roof, some one takes poison- these all existing methods of suicide are anguishing. Self-murderer chooses the hatred & agonies way hence becomes isolated from the grace of Allah. In fact, peace never approached before the self-murderer. One who commit suicide can not realize that the temporary torment which could not withstand but after death there shall be none to relief him from the long sufferings of endless life. There by he/she unconsciously nominates his misfortune.
8. The statistics of suicide in different countries of the world is difference. Many a developed county like, Japan, Russia, USA, France, UK & EU countries are deadly experience the uprising rate of suicide. Tendency of frequent suicide fell the USA-UK forces in Iraq in to an alarming challenge very recently. However for any country’s armed forces, this practice is a great threat in consideration of morale strength.
9. Why man commits suicide? Quest of the answer is under many researches, apparently, it is found that out of highly despondencies’s walk to the way of suicide. In that case only the religious practice refrain man from doing so. Ill doers become innocent after being punished and may be allowed to admit to the paradise. But the self-murderer looses his chance. Even after facing lot many sufferings & mental torment one should not commit suicide as it spoil the eternal life.
10. Allah says in Quran, ‘You who believe, seek help with patient perseverance and prayer; for God is with those patiently persevere’ (Baquara-153).
11. Remember that happiness and woe come by turns. Personality belongs to facing adversity calm & quietly. The torture that allowed for own-self by the self murderer, he does not know he intends to release from hurt, that sort or more punishment in only shall be his/her company of the endless life. As one grants punishment for him, so he/she has to bear throughout. Educated & talented is he/she who never breaks in danger. Allah has created man out of love. So it may need test for love to Allah and Allah will test man in various ways. See, “Be sure we shall test you with something of tear and hunger; some loss of goods, lives and the fruits (of your toil), But glad tidings to those who patiently persevere (Baqara-154)
12. Finally I request you all during your hard feelings try to recollect something good in past & some good taste is waiting for you.
